Call of the Wild
by lazys ~ April 23rd, 2008. Filed under: Uncategorized. This week is National Turn Off Your TV Week and last night at Ozzie’s school they had the organization Wild Things come and give a show in the cafeteria. We had a great time learning all about Opie the opossum, a Quindoo (which is like the Rainforest’s version of a porcupine), 3 baby alligators, a black monitor lizard, a beaver and the absolutely cutest thing I have ever seen… a black bear cub! All of the animals were fascinating and the kids even got to touch the monitor lizard… it was a great show and Ozzie and I discussed afterward what he would need to do in order to work with animals when he gets older.
When I was a kid I desperately wanted to be a veterinarian (or a mermaid!) and I still would love to work with animals in some capacity someday, although at this point it would probably be as a volunteer. We have some very good rescue organizations around our area and I would like to make it a goal to actively support them in the future. Right now, all I seem to have time for is cleaning up cat puke and trying to keep my chicken’s butt from falling out!
