Happy Father’s Day! (Late. I’m always late.)

We had a busy weekend and for some reason both Jason and I were unusually tired. I’m pretty convinced its African Sleeping Sickness. Ya know, because I’m often in African villages, just kickin around. Chilling with some tsetse flies. Ok, maybe not.

Saturday we went over to Jason’s mom’s house for a birthday party for our niece, Ashlyn. Afterwards we took the kids over to Nana and Papa’s for a sleepover. Then, we realized we had nothing to do. There were absolutely no movies we wanted to see. We’re really not “go out to the bar” types. We don’t really do parties. But you know what? It was a really good evening. We got to sit in the garden and talk, uninterrupted. We walked downtown and had a very late dinner at a yummy mexican restaurant. It made me feel good, that we have created a home and a life that is rewarding in its own right, even if it is not necessarily exciting or dramatic.

Sunday was Father’s Day and we had a bbq at my parents house. The kids got Jason two t-shirts and I got my Dad a shirt that said “Grandpa’s Objective: 1. Load kids up with sugar. 2. Send them home!”. We stuffed ourselves on bbq chicken and chocolate cake and watched “Semi Pro”. Jason dropped hints about a new electric guitar… which has me thinking. He is going to be preforming soon after all. :P
