I found this lightweight cotton at Joann’s for just a few bucks a yard and thought it would make a perfect winterish dress!
I used some cool floral fabric from my Grandma Dora’s stash to give it an autumn feel. Now I just need to add buttons!

I’m pretty sure I have a disease. You see, I can’t stop redecorating. It always starts the same. I come across some rocking fabric and envision a particular room in my house, completely dressed up around it. I make curtains, perhaps a few matching pillows. Sometimes a slipcover is involved. I sit back, relax and [...]

In attempt to ignore how uncomfortable I was this weekend (you’re not sick of hearing about that yet right? ) I made myself a skirt out of this unbelievably cool “Mehndi Safari” fabric. I added pockets in the front, a zipper and a contrasting blue waistband, just for fun. Its very twirly and fun! [...]

The kind of madness that makes you ignore your sore throat and achy body and forces you to go out and dig out another 15 square foot patch to add onto your garden. Because MORE WEEDING is just what you need.
I often get this madness. Nowadays, I welcome it. I wait for it. I make [...]

My Easter Egg Bantams arrived yesterday! They are super cute and really, really freaking loud. Hence, they are living in a rubbermaid bin in the sunshine during the day and in the warm garage at night. Here are the new ladies:
This is Twinkle… can you guess who chose that name?
This is Serama the [...]

And not in a good way.
I tend to embrace new things slowly, if at all. It may be better or faster or more convenient but I have a hard time with change. I can change my clothes, my hair color and the color of my living room walls with no problem… just don’t ask me [...]

I hate grass.
Not in nature… gorgeous meadows of wild grasses and flowers blooming together, that kind of grass I am fond of. That soft, lovely green stuff found on golf courses and outdoor stadiums, that stuff is fine.
I’m talking about lawns, specifically. Such a resource-wasting-time-consuming-non-producing bit of Americana. The whole white picket fence syndrome. Its [...]

It was a dark, stormy night. (Or rather it was a hot and dry Tuesday. But whatever.) With a steady hand and a practiced eye, I put shears to fabric and created a masterpiece by following a Simplicity 4119 pattern. (I cut myself with the seam ripper and broke two needles.)
I’ve been sewing off and [...]

Here we have a black and silver cotton dress. It’s from a pattern I designed and very comfy and light, perfect for hot days. And yes, I do harbor delusions of being a can-can girl.
Ok, I think you can guess by now that I do not take good pictures. Never have, never will. Oh, unless [...]

I’ve tried several methods of composting over the years: Bins, boxes, large piles of crap sitting in the middle of the yard, etc. The problem with these methods is that it can be tricky to know when the compost is “done” and even trickier getting it out to use it! Of course, you can shell [...]
